Hitherto, the Centre was used to be known as Centre for Continuing Education (CCE)     which essentially c    o-ordinated the sub-diploma and part time non-regular programmes in the College. In the early years of the College, the Centre (CCE) co-ordinated programmes like the Basic Certificate in Arabic  (BCA), Basic Certificate in English (BCE). Proficiency Certificate in Arabic and Islamic Studies for students of Ma’ahid and Mudaris (Institute of Arabic and Islamic Studies) and Sandwich Diploma inSahri’ah. These programmes were mostly run on part time (i.e evenings and/ or weekends) or during long vacation.

However, with expansion of its programmes and additional responsibilities,
particularly with the introduction of th Degree programmes, the Academic Board
at its emergency  meeting held on 14th November, 2012 adopted change of the
name of the Centre to “entre for Degree and Professional Programme.” The
administrative structure of the centre, like that of the schools, has the following

While the Sub-diploma programmes     are as old as the College itself, others are introduced in the recent years, based on yearnings and aspiration of the community. The Professional Diploma in Education (PDE) is a one year programmed introduced in 2009/2010 academic session in collaboration with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) to remedy professional deficiency of some Diploma Holders or Graduates who are employed as teachers without teaching qualification. The College had graduated three sets so far with annual induction ceremony under the auspice of the TRCN.

The Imamship Training was a short term programme which was introduced in 2012 courtsey of the request of the religious affairs unit of the Nigeria Air-Force. Six Air Force Imams came from different parts of the country as pioneer students and more others are still being expected. The Advance Diploma in Legal Studies is a one  year executive programme for judicial officers, civil servants, professionals and others who desire to acquire legal education or professionalism. A number of students had been admitted for the programme in 2012 and they are expected to resume lecture shortly. the programme has been recognized by the Kwar State Judicial Commission.

The Degree Programme has been a long time ambition of the College..it actually started as sandwich programme in 2001 but for some logistics and administrative problems. Based on policy decision. It crashed. Further efforts were made in 2008 to rescusitate the programme particularly upon a change of gear in the assessment exercises by the National Universities Commission (NUC) in September, 2008. Bayero University, Kano (BUK) in December, 2011. The Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development also made its own assessment on infrastructural facilities in July, 2011. The reports of the assessment exercise were positive and the College obtained approval to run the degree programmes for B.A (Hons) Islamic Studies on full time basis with the effect from 2012/2013 academic session in affiliation with Bayero University, Kano through the JAMB admission exercise. It is gratifying to observe that the College has been enlisted in te 2013 JAMB brochure as one of the Degree awarding institutions in in Nigeria.
